Blog #3: My Role: Tuesday Oct 25th
The main purpose of this pet facility is to take care of any sick cats or dogs, wether they need shots for different diseases or if they need surgery. My title here is to assist the doctors or other assistants, and to make sure the doctor has what he needs. I also clean and prep rooms for next appointments. Other types of task would be cleaning out the cages and rooms, filing papers, taking out the trash, and anything that needs attention. A regular day at work is i get there around 10 i begin by checking the back where they keep dogs and cats and if the cages or dishes need cleaning. After that i check the washers and dryers. Then I go to the front and ask the Doctor or assistant if they need me to do anything, usually I would have to clean a room and prep it for the next appointment. If there is any appointments my job is to help out the assistants and the doctor with the pet and help hold it down if it needs a shot or blood drawn. I usually just repeat this process throughout the day. Everyday at the job is usually different because there is always something that needs to be done.
Blog #4: Project Brainstorm: Tuesday Nov 1st
So far i am thinking of doing a project that involves helping out pets in need or pets and animals that are being abused and neglected. Another idea could be a food drive for pets. Honestly i am not to sure what i could do for my project i need assistants for this part. I came up with these two ideas because i always see casses or commercials of animals in need or that are being abused.. Also my internship place was telling me that they are having some kind of pet food drive for animals that need food.
Blog #5: Progress on my WLE Project: Tuesday Nov 8th
Today at my workplace we had many different animals already in the boarding area ready for surgery or just check ups. I watched a cat get fixed which was very interesting, and i also helped the doctor check up other cats and dogs. throughout the day i just asked the doctor or assistants what needed to be done, and i also cleaned out the back rooms where other animals had stayed and left, it was quiet a mess in the cages. Then at the end of the day Nida my advisor visited and we talked to my mentor about a project. 2 ideas that were brought up was a project that involved advertising more to get more customers or employees. Or a guide line packet information sheet for new customers or information about frequently asked questions. I had not really accomplished anything on my project so far, i just accomplished getting ideas down.
Blog #6: Leadership Skills: Tuesday Nov 15th
Two leaderships skills i am using a lot in my WLE, is completing projects effectively and collaborating productively. I am really good at getting the work down that they asked me to do quickly, correctly, and well done. I use collaborating productively because i have to collaborate with the doctor or the assistants to get certain tasks done especially the ones involving dogs or cats. i think i am using this leader ship skill really well but there is always room for improvement. These leadership skills help me do my work by completing them in a quickly and having them done correctly. they help me manage my time and they help me communicate with other workers. My mentor is a doctor and is using all these leaderships skills throughout the day i cant really say which he does most because he seems to be doing all of them. He critically thinks in surgery, he communicates powerfully to his assistants, he collaborates productively with his assistants, and manages his projects effectively when keeping on time with his appointments hes always ready for the next without anyone waiting for the last appointment to finish.
Blog #7: What I learned, Reflection: Tuesday Nov 22nd
I have learned that I am capable of working in the real world, and I have also learned what it takes to do certain jobs and what kind of education level you require. What I learned will effect my choices in the future because it could be a guideline, to what type of job I may want. Or it could just be a preparation for that job, ill be going into the real world, seeing what its kinda like already. If someone asked me why this was important I would say, it was important in order for me to see how a workplace or job is like in daily life, in order for me to work harder and understand what it takes to be something in life. Skills that I practice in my WLE would be the leadership skills because, I was required to complete projects effectively, and cooperate with others, and also critical thinking, and even communicating powerfully. I believe that this profession takes alot of patience and hard work in order to be a vet. Finally I learned to work hard and never give up, I learned to focus on what is most important in life and how to achieve it.
Blog #8: Professionalism: Tuesday Nov 29th
When I was looking for a WLE at the beginning of this project in order to get hired I had to first look for a potential place, then I had to make professional phone calls to see if I was able to intern at their place, then I would provide them with information about the WLE, Next I had to make a cover letter and a resume.
The most effective way for looking for a job and getting hired is be determined, keep options opened and be professional and friendly and responsible. because of WLE being a responsible adult is to focus and work hard, I need to be organized and responsible and focus on my work now in order to succeed later.

Blog #9: Life at my WLE: Tuesday Dec 6th
Today at my WLE, I cleaned all the boarding cages where the dogs and cats stay, after that I took the dogs for a walk around the place. Then I mopped the floors and folded all the clean laundry. After that i assisted the doctor with some cats and dogs for their check ups and vaccination. Today I saw part of a surgery and a dog get extrays. As an intern I have improved by knowing what to do, instead of asking what to do, I am much faster at completing task efficiently and I am more comfortable in the environment. what makes my workplace great is it has alot of space for the animals that stay there, they are taken care of very well, and They are very organized with the place, business and appointments.
Blog #10: The End: Tuesday Dec 13th
My final thoughts about my WLE is that i really enjoyed this opportunity and experience, There is a bit i wish i could change or could have done better. I cant wait till next years WLE because ill be more experienced and know what to expect. I Think WLE is an awesome program here at impact. I would recommend my WLE to other people. I was interested in this WLE because i love animals and hope to do something that is science or medical in my life . This experience will effect my decision for a WLE next year because I could choose something similar because I enjoyed this one, or I could think about choosing something completely different for a whole new experience.
